DAYS 1 & 2

Arrive in Warsaw on Day 2. Warsaw is one of the world’s most interesting cities — alive with history, architecture, culture and entertainment. This evening enjoy a festive welcome cocktail and dinner party to meet your traveling companions and your Travcoa Travel Director who will tell you about the wonderful adventures ahead.

DAYS 3 & 4

Embark on an in-depth city tour that will introduce you to the culture and history of Poland’s capital. Stroll through the Old Town with stops at St. John’s Cathedral and the market square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and pass through the fortified gates for an exploration of the Royal Castle. After lunch, tour the Museum of the Warsaw Uprising, which honors the heroic warriors of the 1943 movement against the Nazi occupation. 

On Day 4 visit Royal Willanów Palace, one of the loveliest Baroque palaces in Poland, which houses a valuable collection of art and historical relics. In the afternoon, take a walking tour of Royal Lazienki Park and see the Chopin Monument. Enjoy a special private concert of Chopin’s music in the Polish Music Library.

DAY 5

On your way to the ancient capital of Kraków, explore the 14th-century Jasna Gora Monastery — the third-largest Catholic pilgrimage site in the world and the national shrine of Poland. Set atop a hill, the monastery’s striking bell tower dominates the landscape, but its main lure is held inside the beloved miraculous icon of Our Lady of Częstochowa. Then make a somber visit to the museum at Auschwitz-Birkenau, site of one of the Nazis’ most infamous death camps. Auschwitz is now a Museum of Martyrdom and consists of brick barracks and houses tons of shoes, glasses and other belongings of victims, a striking testament to the Holocaust.

DAY 6

Kraków miraculously escaped destruction during World War II. With your expert local guides you’ll visit its many historic buildings including the Royal Castle, medieval Old Town, Market Square, the 13th-century Cloth Hall and Wawel Cathedral. Then make a special subterranean journey to the Wieliczka Salt Mine, an underground world of crystal grottoes, spectacular natural limestone formations and man-made salt sculptures.

DAYS 7 & 8

After a leisurely morning in Kraków, fly to stately Vienna. Vienna boasts some of the most beautiful Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo architecture in the world. The houses of Vienna’s great composers — including Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Haydn, Brahms and Strauss — are all carefully preserved. Discover the wide boulevards, the avenues, the fairytale palaces, the gardens and parks, the townhouses, churches, opera houses, theaters and museums. You will hear and see beauty from every corner. 

On Day 8 embark on a walking tour of the historic Old Town where you’ll be regaled by your expert guide with stories of Vienna’s colorful history. Later, visit the grandiose 17th-century Schönbrunn Palace. During the reign of Maria Theresa, Schönbrunn was the summer residence of the court. Marie Antoinette, future queen of France, spent her childhood here, and the child prodigy Mozart astonished the court with his performances, beginning at the age of six. After a tour of the palace, we visit the Residenz Café to see the Apple Strudel Show. Watch the professional pastry chef create this iconic Viennese treat, and taste the results!

DAY 9

Start your Sunday in the traditional way, with a performance of the famous Vienna Boys Choir. During its long and glorious history, musicians such as Gluck, Mozart, Salieri and Bruckner have worked with the choir. Continue on foot to Hofburg Palace (the Imperial Palace) which was the residence of the Habsburg Emperors until 1918. Originally a medieval castle, of which only the chapel has survived to this day, the residence of the court was expanded and made ever more lavish as the power of the Habsburgs grew. The hall in which the Lipizzaner Stallions of the Spanish Riding School perform is also in the Imperial Palace and you’ll see a performance of these famous white horses. Enjoy brunch at the Museum of Fine Arts before your afternoon flight to Budapest.

DAY 10

Explore Budapest’s two regions: Buda, the western bank’s historic Castle District; and Pest, the commercial district and seat of government. See all the sights including Hero’s Square, Parliament House, Gellert Hill, Matthias Church and Fisherman’s Bastion.

DAYS 11 & 12

After a leisurely morning upon the banks of the Danube, fly to Prague, a stunning city of bridges, cathedrals, gold-plated towers and church domes. Take a walking tour of the Charles Bridge, Old Town and the Jewish quarter with your well-informed local guide who will bring these areas to life. See the Gothic Town Hall and its extraordinary astronomical clock, built in the early 1400s when Prague was one of the largest and most prosperous cities in Europe. On the evening of Day 12, board a classic tram for a private journey through Prague by night.

DAYS 13 & 14

This morning visit Prague Castle. The largest ancient castle in the world, it sits on the highest hill in the city. Gigantic St. Vitus Cathedral, part of the castle, towers over the city and took 600 years to build. The crown jewels of the Bohemian Kings and relics of St. Wenceslas, the 10th-century Duke of Bohemia, are on display. Continue with a visit to the Strahov Monastery complex, dating back as early as 1140. Visitation is very limited with most of the monastery closed to the public; the Philosophical and Theological Halls of the Library are opened exclusively for us. The curator of the monastery will join us to point out the most interesting details and answer your questions. In the evening, gather for a festive farewell cocktail party and dinner. On Day 14 bid farewell to Prague and you will be taken to the airport for your flight home or on to your next destination.
