Experience more of Scandinavia’s charm and scenic beauty on a perfect 11-day Cruise Extension through Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Explore Stockholm’s leafy neighborhoods, historic Old Town and the nearby former capital city of Sigtuna with a private driver guide. Then fly to Oslo and the beautifully situated town of Bergen where a carefully choreographed day of mountain trains and ferries transports you through charming, small villages and Norway’s most famous fjord landscapes. Also included is three nights in the royal city of Copenhagen with privately guided excursions each day to explore the castles, palaces and museums of the city and nearby towns. Accommodations are at Grand Hotel Stockholm, Hotel Continental in Oslo, Hotel Havnekontoret in Bergen and Hotel d’Angleterre in Copenhagen.

DAY 1Stockholm, Sweden On arrival in Stockholm, you are met and taken directly to your hotel in the center of the city. Stockholm is very scenic, with shimmering waterways and a myriad of bridges connecting the 14 islands that make up the city. The rest of the day is at your leisure to relax or explore. (B) Grand Hôtel Stockholm, Stockholm DAY 2Stockholm Sightseeing Today enjoy a panoramic tour of this 700‐year‐old city. Visit the wealthy Ostermalm District, the central city areas of Hötorget and Sergel Plaza, and the Renaissance‐styled Royal Palace. Explore the Kungsholmen district with its 18th to 20th century buildings, including City Hall, where the Nobel Prize Award dinners are held. Next, drive to the southern shore of Saltsjön island for a view of the city from the top of picturesque Fjällgatan Street. Continue to Stockholm’s charming Old Town, “Gamla Stan,” to enjoy a short stroll along the charming cobblestoned streets. (B) Grand Hôtel Stockholm, Stockholm DAY 3Uppsala & Sigtuna Excursion Today, enjoy a full day excursion north of Stockholm to explore two of Sweden’s historic cities. First, visit the prestigious university town of Uppsala. Explore Old Uppsala, and the historic Uppsala Palace, built on a ridge overlooking the city. Visit the National Cathedral, built in the 13th century. It is Sweden’s largest and most spectacular church. Also see the Gunilla Bell, and the University. Departing Uppsala, pass the replica of the historic Mora Stone, where homage was paid to newly crowned kings, and Linnés Hammarby, the home of the world famous 18th century botanist, Carl von Linné. Drive along the charming country roads to the small, unspoiled town of Sigtuna. Founded over 1,000 years ago, Sigtuna was the first capital of Sweden and its center of Christianity. Today Sigtuna is almost sleepy, a village of picturesque old houses and well‐kept gardens. See the 13th century Church of St. Maria, and the 18th century town hall. En route back to Stockholm, you pass the beautiful baroque‐style Steninge Palace and Rosersberg Castle. (B, L) Grand Hôtel Stockholm, Stockholm DAY 4Stockholm to Oslo, Norway This morning you are taken to the airport for your flight to Norway. On arrival in Oslo you are met and taken directly to your hotel. Oslo is a modern, international city, with a thousand years of rich history waiting to be explored. (B) Hotel Continental, Oslo DAY 5Oslo Sightseeing Start this morning’s tour with a visit to the famous Holmenkollen Ski Jump for an amazing view over the city and the adjacent fjord. Touring the city center, see the Parliament Building, the, Royal Palace, City Hall, and Oslo Cathedral, famous for its large ceiling murals. Visit the modern sea‐front area of Aker Brygge Wharf, with its delightful boardwalk full of colorful buildings, shops and restaurants. Explore the ruins of the Akershus Fortress, built in the 1300’s as a medieval castle, it was later converted into a Renaissance period royal residence. Enjoy time to wander through the amazing Vigeland Sculpture Park. This unique sculpture garden is the life work of the sculptor Gustav Vigeland (1869‐1943), and contains more than 200 sculptures in bronze, granite and cast iron. (B) Hotel Continental, Oslo DAY 6Oslo to Bergen This morning fly to Bergen, in Norway’s western region of fjords and glaciers. This afternoon enjoy a sightseeing tour of this maritime city. Visit the historic old town with its traditional, wooden houses built around the harbor. See the bustling Old Fish Market and visit the Church of St. Mary, which is the oldest building in Bergen, and is an example of Baroque decorative art from the early 12th century. Evidence of Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg can be found all around the city; visit “Troldhaugen”, his home set on a promontory point on Lake Nordaas. (B) Hotel Havnekontoret, Bergen DAY 7Norway Fjords Excursion Today take an exhilarating full day voyage to explore the majestic beauty of Norway. Travel by train, skirting the beautiful Sørfjord, then ascend to the great mountain plateau separating the western fjords from the rest of Norway. Pass through the 3‐mile‐long Gravhals Tunnel to Myrdal, where you board the carriage train for Flåm, and the journey down the wild Flåm Valley. Enjoy a panoramic view of lofty, snow‐capped mountains, thundering waterfalls and peaceful green meadows. After lunch in Flåm, continue by fjord steamer down the Aurlandsfjord and into the Nærøyfjord, one of the narrowest in the whole country. Next, drive up the hairpin bends to Stalheim, and take in the breath‐taking view of the valley below. Continue to the charming village of Voss, then across the mountain back to Bergen. (B, L) Hotel Havnekontoret, Bergen DAY 8Bergen to Copenhagen, Denmark This morning fly to Copenhagen. Upon arrival in Denmark, you are met and taken to your hotel. This afternoon enjoy a sightseeing tour of enchanting Copenhagen. See the City Hall, Tivoli Gardens, the Danish National Gallery, the Swedish Church and the legendary ‘Little Mermaid’ sculpture. Explore the old world district of Nyboder and its Gefion Fountain, the largest monument in Copenhagen. Next, travel along “Amaliehaven,” a unique park that stretches from the waterfront to your next stop, the imposing Amalienborg Palace, home of the Danish Royal Family. Drive through the historic district of Christianshavn and view the unique architecture of Christian IV’s Stock Exchange, the Naval Church and Christiansborg Castle, which is also home to the Danish Parliament. (B) Hotel d’Angleterre, Copenhagen DAY 9North Sealand Castle Excursion Today travel north of Copenhagen, driving along the coastal road bordering the sound, with spectacular views and old fishing villages dotting the way. Arrive in Elsinore to visit Kronborg Castle, with its massive castle walls, it is famous as the backdrop for Shakespeare’s “Hamlet”. Enjoy lunch before continuing your drive to see Fredensborg Palace, the Spring and Autumn residence of the Royal Family. Next, stop in the market town of Hillerød, to visit Frederiksborg Palace. Built on a small island, Frederiksborg is a magnificently detailed Renaissance palace, and a monumental tribute to Christian IV, the Danish monarch and visionary royal commissioner of buildings. Today it houses the Museum of Danish National History. Explore some of the picturesque villages and rural countryside en route back to Copenhagen, arriving by late afternoon. (B, L) Hotel d’Angleterre, Copenhagen DAY 10Regal Copenhagen Sightseeing This morning’s tour explores the regal side of Copenhagen ‐ Denmark’s Royal City. See the old residential areas of Christianshavn and Nyboder, commissioned by royal decree to house the wealthy merchants and naval personnel, supporting Copenhagen’s goal of becoming a thriving international port city. Explore Amalienborg Palace, which is actually four palaces built around an expansive, cobblestone square. Visit Rosenborg Palace, home to the exquisite Danish Crown Jewels, and then tour the elegant Royal reception rooms in Christiansborg Palace.
