DAYS 1 & 2Johannesburg, South Africa Your journey begins in Johannesburg on Day 2. Set within the South African heartland, Johannesburg holds the fascinating history of the nation and shines a light on what the future has to offer. Enjoy a welcome cocktail and dinner party to meet your Travcoa Travel Director and fellow travelers to learn about the exciting events ahead. D’Oreale Hotel, Johannesburg DAYS 3 & 4Maun & Okavango Delta, Botswana This morning fly to Maun, gateway to Botswana. A small aircraft will take you to an island deep within the Okavango Delta, a rich swampland that supports an incredible variety of plant and animal life. Regarded as one of the world’s most beautiful Brighter camps, Eagle Island Camp is in one of the Delta’s most pristine natural locations. Game viewing is by mokoro (dugout canoe), motorboat, walking trail and from above by helicopter. Enjoy the camp, as well as morning and afternoon safaris. Watch the sunset on the camp’s 14-seat Sundowner Cruiser on a journey through the Delta. You can enjoy the birds, watch elephants bathing and mammoth hippos emerging from the water before your return to the base, where you are welcomed with a wonderful candlelight dinner served under the stars. Eagle Island Camp, Okavango Delta DAYS 5 & 6Chobe National Park Savute Elephant Camp is sometimes referred to as the “elephant capital of the world.” Perched on the former banks of the now dry Savute Channel, the camp offers a spectacular bird’s eye view of elephants in their natural habitat. An adjacent water hole is just feet away from the camp’s main building — making this area famous for the massive herds of elephant and buffalo and significant prides of lions drawn here for the hunting. Activities here include daily game drives in open Land Rovers and game viewing from a number of great hides in the area. Savute Elephant Camp offers a unique dining experience in the new boma (enclosure). With spectacular vistas of the African night skies, dining in the boma enclosure brings you closer to nature within the heart of a true “bush” environment. Savute Elephant Camp, Chobe National Park DAYS 7 & 8Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe On Day 7 fly from Chobe National Park to Kasane, connecting for a flight to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Enjoy a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. Tonight dine at “The Boma,” the lodge’s restaurant, for an African cultural experience with your dinner. The morning of Day 8 arise early to embark on a thrilling, low-intensity elephant-back safari through the bush. You may see buffalos, kudus, bushbucks, impalas, elephants and waterbucks, as well as a wide variety of birds. Later, take a walking tour of Victoria Falls. Bordering Zambia and Zimbabwe, the falls are a spectacular sight of awe-inspiring beauty and grandeur. Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, Victoria Falls DAYS 9 & 10Matusadona National Park Today you are taken to the Victoria Falls airport to board a Cessna Caravan for our approximately 1-hour flight directly to Bumi Hills Safari Lodge in the Matusadona National Park. Bumi Hills Safari Camp is unique as it has the exquisite added dimension of the water. Lake Kariba, a genuine African wilderness in itself, hosts far more animals than people. This allows for glorious game viewing by boat as well as the traditional open 4X4 vehicles and walking in the wilds. On Day 10 enjoy a full day of adventure and wildlife viewing. There are games drives at dawn and dusk — the best times to view game on the move. Bumi Hills Safari Lodge offers game viewing in open safari vehicles, by boat and guided bush walks. The wildlife species that may be seen at Bumi are elephants and buffalos, massive Nile crocodiles, lions, many hippo, the elusive leopard, kudu, waterbuck, impala, warthog, monkeys, baboons, sable and zebra. Take a gentle cocktail cruise to watch the glorious sunset with wildlife as the backdrop. Bumi Hills Safari Lodge, Matusadona National Park DAYS 11 & 12Victoria Falls & Depart for Home On Day 11 you will be transferred to the Bumi Hills airfield for your flight to Victoria Falls. From there connect to your flight home (arriving the following day) or on to your next destination. |
