DAY 1 Johannesburg, South Africa Upon arrival you will be escorted to your deluxe hotel. Set within the South African heartland, Johannesburg not only holds the fascinating history of the nation, but also shines a light on what the future has to offer for this dynamic nation. This once dusty mining town has emerged to become a modern city thriving with numerous international corporations and government institutions. The “City of Gold” is full of excitement and contrasts, and is a fascinating metropolis to discover.

DAYS 2 – 4 Chobe River Cruise, Botswana After you fly to Kasane, encounter the great Chobe River, which divides Namibia’s Caprivi Strip from Botswana’s Chobe National Park. The river’s exotic banks boast one of the densest populations of wildlife on the African continent. After boarding your home for the next three nights — the luxurious Zambezi Queen — embark on the first of many game-viewing cruises from small boats that allow you to get close to the elephants, crocodiles and hippos that call the river home. When you’re not on safari, take a dip in the pool, enjoy a relaxing siesta, tour a local village by canoe or even do some fishing. (3B, 2L, 3D)

DAYS 5 & 6 Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe Discover the natural wonders of Victoria Falls, “The Smoke That Thunders,” while on an elephant-back safari through the bush. After a short introductory talk you will be ‘introduced’ to the elephants and their handlers before mounting your elephant. The trails lead through riverine bush and shallow parts of the Zambezi River onto the islands. You may see buffalos, kudus, bushbucks, impalas, elephants, waterbucks, as well as a wide variety of birds. During the safari you and your elephant enjoy a break while getting to know each other and learning about the African elephant and its relationship with man. (2B)

DAYS 7 – 11 Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia & Depart for Home Pristine Lower Zambezi National Park occupies nearly 1,600 square miles of spectacular wilderness and is home to lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos, hippos, zebras and an astonishing array of birdlife.
