As the last survivors of the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World, the Pyramids date back some 5,000 years. Nearby is the mysterious Sphinx, carved from a single block of stone. DAY 6Nile Cruise & Kom Ombo In the morning, relax on the ship or take an optional extension with a flight to Abu Simbel, for a close-up look at the 3,000-year-old temples built by Ramses II, which are carved out of a hillside. In the afternoon, cruise from Aswan to Kom Ombo, whose name is derived from “City of Gold.” A major attraction on your visit is the Temple of Kom Ombo, built during the Greco-Roman period. The temple is dedicated to two deities, each with their own fascinating chambers and sanctuaries. (B, L, D)

DAYS 7 & 8Nile Cruise, Edfu, Esna & Luxor Visit Luxor, a magnificent ancient township built on the site of the ancient city of Themes, dating back 4,000 years. Journey to the Valley of the Kings, famous for its royal tombs and a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. The most famous tomb belongs to the boy-king Tutankhamen. Also visit the Valley of the Queens, Temple of Madinat Habu and the Colossi of Memnon. (2 B, 2 L, 2 D)

DAYS 9 & 10Nile Cruise & Cairo On Day 9, enjoy the scenic landscape while cruising on the Nile. Take a day-trip by ship to experience the majestic Dandarah Temple. On Day 10, fly from Luxor to Cairo, arriving mid-day. You will stay at the Four Seasons Hotel at The First Residence, a gracious sanctuary on the west bank of the Nile with impressive views of the Great Pyramids. (2 B, 1 L, 1 D)

DAYS 11 & 12Cairo Visit the famed Egyptian Museum including the Tutankhamen collection with a special visit to the Mummies Room. Take an excursion to the Citadel and the Ottoman-style Mohammed Ali Mosque (the Alabaster Mosque) built in AD 1183. Then explore the famous Khan El Khalili Souk (or bazaar), largely unchanged since the 14th century. Return home on Day 12. (2 B, 1 L)
